Study of Meson Nuclear Charge Exchange ⁺ n Reactions
on Different Nuclei

Scientific Programme:
The goal of the HYPERON-M experiment is to study some meson nuclear effects such as nuclear transparency and color screening at a qualitatively new level of statistical accuracy. High statistics experiments on charge exchange meson nuclear reactions are of great importance for studying the processes which occur while mesons pass through nuclear matter and for meson spectroscopy. The experiment is proposed to be performed at the U-70 accelerator (IHEP, Protvino) with the setup Hyperon-M at 7 GeV/c. A set of light, medium and heavy nuclei is planned to be used in order to investigate the A-dependence of the nuclear transparency.

Expected main results in 2005:

Connecting and testing of the tagging system and proportional chambers.
Data taking run to get the data on charge exchange ⁺ n reactions on different nuclei.
Processing of the collected data.
