Radiation Effects and Modification of Materials, Radioanalytical and Radioisotopic Investigations at the FLNR Accelerators

Scientific Programme:
New experimental data on the radiation damage physics of alloys, monocrystals and polymers at their bombardment with 0.5-100 MeV/n heavy ions. Study of radiation influence on the microstructure evolution. Production of ultra-pure isotopes. Development of radioanalytical methods for environmental studies. Investigation of polymeric materials modification exposed to heavy ions and production of porous structures on their basis.
Design and creation of accelerator complexes of heavy ions and protons and appropriate technologies for condensed matter investigations and production of radionuclides for nuclear medicine and radio therapy.

Expected main results in 2005:

Systematic investigation of radiation damage of alloys, monocrystals and polymers at their bombardment with 0.5-100 MeV/n heavy ions.
Investigation of polymeric materials modification exposed to heavy ions and production of new porous structures on their basis.
Investigation of new polymeric materials modification using irradiation with low energy heavy (0.2-1.0 Mev/n) ions at the implantator IC100.
Study of the nuclear properties of radio-chemically pure radionuclides for nuclear medicine and radioecology ( ¹⁴⁹Tb, ²²⁵Ac, ²³⁷U, ²³⁵Np etc.)
Investigation of heavy element migration in the environment.
Design and manufacturing of principal components of the heavy ion and proton accelerator complex based on the DC-60 cyclotron and ECR ion source.
Launching of the irradiation complex based on the IC-100 cyclotron and superconducting ECR-ion source.
